Female Guided Motorcycle Tour

WOMEN ROCK motorcycle tour – Along came holly

At last a motorcycle tour for women!  We heard you, we listened and then created this special motorcycle tour for women.

The Background

A little while ago we met Holly Richardson at Ireland BikeFest 2019 in Killarney, Co. Kerry. Holly is a female motorcyclist from the UK, and works as a blogger & vlogger at All About Holly. She’s a motorcycle enthusiast and spends a lot of time in her garage working on her bike, leading group rides, and encouraging female riders to get started in the world of biking. Recently she’s been appointed a brand ambassador for Harley Davidson UK, and came to Killarney with HD to check out some new bikes, the amazing Wild Atlantic Way – and IBF of course!

Our Idea

So that got us thinking – how can we encourage female riders to explore Ireland on two wheels?  Well our answer is this; to curate a motorcycle tour guided by All About Holly on the Wild Atlantic Way.

So that’s what we did! And this week it kicked off when Holly arrived at our Lemonrock base in Ireland’s Ancient East – Trim, Co. Meath. Of course we celebrated our get-together by getting all our biker friends together – both male & female – and set off for a Sunday ride to explore Ireland’s Ancient East, with a coffee break at Slane Castle. Here’s some snaps of the ride:

The Recce Trip

This week we set up a recce trip starting in Trim, Co. Meath and making our way north to Co. Donegal – where we joined the Wild Atlantic Way. From here we made our way south along the coast, stopping along the way in places like Aughris Head (Co. Sligo), Westport (Co. Mayo), Galway City, Lahinch (Co. Clare), Dingle and finally Killarney, both in Co. Kerry.

The purpose of this week has been to show Holly some other parts of the Wild Atlantic Way route that she hadn’t previously ridden, and for the Lemonrock Team to work on refining the route so that we can create a special tour for May 2020.

Packing Tips for Your Motorcycle Tour

Packing smart can make your ride more comfortable and hassle-free. Opt for lightweight, moisture-wicking base layers that can be easily washed and dried overnight. A few versatile clothing items will go a long way, and if you forget something, towns along the route have plenty of stores to restock essentials.

A good textile jacket and pants with waterproof protection are essential. Expect occasional rain, and a waterproof suit will keep you dry and comfortable no matter the conditions. If you need reliable motorcycle luggage, something like this would be a great investment for keeping your gear secure and organized.
