Wild Atlantic Way – a gentler side

The Wild Atlantic Way
The Wild Atlantic Way are not all about rugged wild grandiose seascapes. There are some gentler views to be found. Here we are in Roundstone, Connemara. I really liked these views which show off the vibrant color of the seaweed contrasting with the greenery.
This mist topped mountain scene is a less well-known view of Ben Bulben in Co. Sligo, which has an iconic shape to it when viewed from the South. Take a ride on the reverse side of it and be prepared to be transported into a different ere, When you ride the “Horseshoe” loop.

Granted there is a well-known tradition in Ireland. Where local youngsters turn the signpost around to confuse visitors. But this is not one of them! This sign is pointing the way to Omey Island in Connemara where at low tide you can walk across to the island. The GS’s were itching to go too, but we like to keep the bikes pristine for our customers and salt water and shiny metal don’t go hand in hand.
We rode along the coastline visiting beautiful small fishing harbors, blithely canceling our schedules in favor of chatting with people we met along the way.
The Wild Atlantic Way is whatever you make it.
